President John Mahama has appointed Mrs. Mona Helen Quartey as new Deputy Minister of Finance to replace Kweku Ricketts Hagan.
This could be seen as the President’s attempt to rebuild the support system at the ministry to help solve the country’s current economic crisis.
Last week the President appointed an economist with the African Development Bank, Dr. John Kofi Baffoe as Technical Adviser to the Minister for Finance Seth Tekpeh.
Mrs. Mona Helen Quartey specializes in Broad Treasury, Risk Management and Corporate Finance in the Corporate and Government environment.
She also has enormous international experience in equity and debt raising in Africa, Europe and North America.
Mrs Quartey also known to have strong structuring and negotiation skills honed over two decades of work experience in the Mining and Finance Industry.
She previously worked with Citibank NA, and CitiCorp. Investment Services all in Maryland USA.
Mrs. Quartey also worked with American Express Financial Advisors in Columbia, AshantiGold Company Limited and Ecobank Ghana.
She has been a Non Executive Director of Merchant Bank (Ghana) Ltd. since July 2009.
She holds a Masters in Business Administration, Finance and International Marketing from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada and a B.Sc in Planning from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
Mrs. Mona Helen K. Quartey has served as a Partner of BVM Advisory Services.
Meanwhile Kweku Ricketts Hagan has been resigned and is now the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry.
