The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has told Citi Business News that the authority is currently reviewing the new structure of FLY540 before granting the airline permission to resume operations.
[contextly_sidebar id=”mYzQQyFxEzWKQcER6D5s1TncsmMigKLu”]This comes after the airline reapplied to the GCAA to resume operations soon.
The airline’s application follows its acquisition by new investors.
Fly540 Ghana, one of four domestic airlines in the country, in May 2014 suspended operations as part of a restructuring exercise which saw some of its staff going to court over delayed severance packages.
Citi Business News has gathered the airline will be called Royal fly540 if its license is approved by authorities.
Speaking to Citi Business News the Acting Director – General of the GCAA Abdulai Alhassan said the authority would have to review the airline’s license.
“Yes they want to come back and operate but under a different structure and we are still reviewing the structure that they brought. They wrote to us that they want to resume operations but they had proposed change in name and ownership of the company and we are reviewing the new plan that they submitted to us.”
The Acting Director – General of the GCAA Abdulai Alhassan told Citi Business News that after reviewing the new businesses plan of the airline they would write to them on whether or not they can go ahead under the same license they had before their suspension and operate since there are no timelines on when the airline hopes to resume its operations.
But he was quick to add that if there is a change in the shareholding structure then the company would have to reapply for their license again.
