The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho over the Electronic Communications Bill.
The telecommunications companies argue that the conclusions reached and the recommendations made by the Finance and Communications Committees of Parliament were flawed as they relied partly on stated matters of fact asserted by the National Communications Authority which the Chamber says are not representative enough of the actual facts.
A petition presented to the Speaker of Parliament cited the absence of reference to a market study warranting the introduction of the Interconnect Clearing House system.
The telecommunication companies are among other things also seeking for legislations to sanction culprits of sim box fraud describing the current system as lacking effective laws to prosecute persons found culpable.
