Learning from Rwanda’s successful systems in tax implementations and effective public sector are but some of the expectations of participants of Citi FM’s Hello Kigali tour.
The business leaders from both the public and private sectors, are also hopeful of implementing the model adopted by Rwanda back here in Ghana.
“I decided to join the trip to find out how their systems work. We hear Rwanda has the best of public service sector so we wanted to come and experience this so that we can also come and apply it back home,” one participant from the Registrar General’s Department in Ghana told Citi Business News.
Another participant, Belina Odua-Dua, a tax consultant also stated, “I want to see Rwanda for myself and see the interesting things that they are doing. I also want to explore what they have done with their tax for certain agencies and for business registrations …for our clients getting results as quickly as possible is very important so we are going to learn how we can do things faster and better for our clients.”
The delegation will today, [January 25, 2017] be exposed to Rwanda’s strategy in ensuring tax compliance, as well as efficiency and reliability in the provision of government services.
They will meet with authorities of three key organizations in Rwanda; the Rwandan Revenue Authority, IREMBO (eGovernment Portal), and the Kigali Free Zone in a bid to have first hand information and exposure on the tactics used by them to make their entities successful.
The Rwandan Revenue Authority has been touted as one of the few authorities in Africa using technology to ensure tax compliance and efficiency, while its e-Government portal has successfully centralized five key government services and eradicated the major bureaucratic challenges.
The tour which commenced yesterday will end on the 28th of January, 2017.
