Citi FM’s Business Festival to influence policies, equip private sector

Events and activities lined up for this year’s – 2017 Citi Business Festival are expected to influence national policies and equip the private sector.

The Citi Business Festival which is the most anticipated business event in Ghana, is scheduled for the month of June.

The month long series of outdoor and on-air  programmes will be launched on the 1st of June at the head office of MTN in Accra.

The objective of the festival is to provide a one-stop platform for the dissemination of business information, interactions among the business community through networking and engagement with business leaders, entrepreneurs etc.

As part of the festival, there will be On-Air series from June 5, to June 30 which will focus on strategy, leadership, brand and marketing among others.

The festival will also feature the Management Boot Camp from June 18 to 24, at the Volta Hotel as well as the Sales Revolution slated for June 15 at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra.

Other events include Business Fora scheduled for June 1, 6, 22, and 27 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Alisa Hotel.

This year’s Innovation Summit which promises to be revealing is scheduled to take place on June 24.

Speaking on the preparations, the Head of News Programming at Citi FM, Bernard Avle stated that this year’s event will focus on providing solutions to challenges faced by business owners and entrepreneurs in their operations.

He explained that organizers have taken into consideration the views of  the business community on the changing trends of doing business in Ghana and Africa in general.

“Our aim is to provide solutions by influencing national policies to create the kind of environment needed for the private sector to thrive,” he said, adding that “it is important to drive the focus in a deliberate manner for the growth of  the private sector”

On her part, the Head of Citi Business News, Mrs. Vivian Kai Lokko disclosed that the event will bring together resource persons with experiences in the various fields that will be discussed.

“We have some of the best resource persons from the banking and finance, housing, leadership and marketing. They will share practical ideas and experiences on doing business in our part of the world. The idea is to build and encourage entrepreneurs to be global competitors to add value to their products”, she noted.

On-Air programmes

Meanwhile during the long month celebration of the festival, Citi FM will provide an opportunity for the business community to share ideas and interact on a series of on-air programmes on Citi 97.3FM.

These programmes will features presentations from top notch industry practitioners on key business topics, such as Brand and Marketing , Organizational Culture , HR Management, as well as Strategy andLeadership.

The Sales Revolution

This Sales Revolution is a one full day sales training programme which will provide  adequate opportunities for  sales persons and marketing executives on the dynamic trends and methods of sales and marketing.

The event will assemble the best sales experts in the country who will make presentations on modern trends in the industry. The target is to boost the capacity of participants to positively impact their organisations.

Management Boot Camp

This is a week-long residential executive education programme, for senior managers and businessmen.

The carefully selected faculty of facilitators with a blend of rich academic and practical expertise will take participants through a wide range of contemporary management and strategic issues.

This is must attend for managers in highly competitive industries. The Management Boot Camp starts from June 18 to June 24, at the Volta Hotel.

Business Fora

The Festival will also provide a platform for thought provoking discussions on critical business sectors.

One of the programmes will focus on how to attain a cash-lite economy in partnership with the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS). The event will coincide with GhIPSS’s 10 years anniversary this year.

There will also be a programme in partnership with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) on  attracting investors to Ghana.

Issues in  the Real Estate and Housing sector will also be given attention as Citi FM partners Ghana Home Loans (GHL)/ Appolonia Estates to discuss industry related challenges.

This programme will explore new ways that can be adopted by the private sector to partner government in bridging the housing gap.

In addition, Citi FM will partner the Ghana Tourism Authority(GTA) to take a look one of the most critical sectors of the economy—tourism, and its impact on the economy of Ghana.   The Forum dubbed the Akwaaba forum will be held in Accra.

The Innovation Summit

The Innovation Summit is an interactive event on how to create value for the business community through innovation.

It will feature a panel of industry players, discussing how to generate business successes through innovation.

This event will bring together a panel to discuss innovations and business ideas. There will be a session which showcases innovators displaying their ideas to government.
