Aviation Minister inaugurates new GCAA Board                                                       

Aviation Minister, Cecelia Dapaah has inaugurated a nine member board of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The board’s core mandate will be to govern activities of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

The minister by this charged the new board members to approach their new positions with diligence and all seriousness to achieve the ultimate goal of establishing Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as an aviation hub in West Africa.

“The privilege given you to serve on the GCAA demonstrates the confidence and trust reposed in you by his Excellency the President. I have no doubt that you will discharge your duties with a high sense of commitment and bring your various professional experiences and knowledge to bear on the operations of the GCAA” she said.

She further challenged them to bring on board their expertise and ideas to enhance the capabilities of the GCAA.

“The vision of this ministry is to establish the Kotoka International Airport as an aviation hub in the West African Region and to position Ghana as the preferred destination of choice for travelers. One key agency that is expected to play a key role towards the achievement of the sector’s vision is the GCAA. We, therefore, expect you to approach your work with diligence and seriousness in order to fulfill the government’s agenda of making the Kotoka International Airport an aviation hub in the sub region” she added.

Chairman of the Board, Air Commodore Rexford Acquah (Rtd) who spoke on behalf of the board pledged their commitment to work assiduously to make a change in the Aviation Industry.

“We all pledge to support and do all in our ability to make sure the ministry attain the developmental objective of the aviation by the government.”

Members of the board also include, the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Simon Molai Allotey, Group Captain Eric Agyen-Frimpong and Mr. Ellis Hugh-Tamakloe.

Others are Mr. Kwasi Owusu-Ansah, Mr. Powis Deakens Spencer, Dr. Sulemana Abudulai, Mrs. Ernestina Swatson Eshun and Ms. Joyce Opoku-Boateng.
