MTN launches two new smartphones to boost digital drive

Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) in partnership with MicFrimps Enterprise, with support from Stanbic Bank, has launched the MTN iPro Amber 5s (4G) and iPro amber 5s pro (3G) phones in Accra.

The iPro smartphones which run on the Android Go Operating System have some amazing features including a 5inch screen and have installed on them apps such as WhatsApp, Google Maps, Facebook, YouTube, among others.

Users of these devices will enjoy 800mb free data for 6 months and 1GB free data to enable them watch YouTube videos for an hour each day. The device’s flexibility and features make the connection with others easier and outstanding. The phones come at a retail price of GHC275 and GHC 255 for the 4G and 3G respectively.

The Senior Manager for Commercial Planning at MTN, Mr. Guido Sopiimeh while launching the products underscored the need to make available to customers original and affordable handsets that will boost their experience with the network.

He said, “our vision to lead the delivery of a Bold Digital World to Our Customers” is in many ways made apparent through partnerships that lead to the introduction of products such as the IPro Amber 5s’.

Mr. Sopiimeh assured Ghanaians about the company’s commitment to its vision, under listing some crucial steps being taken to make the vision a reality. This includes upgrading and expanding the telecommunication network infrastructure, building three ultra-modern data centers and the introduction of the first 4G service in Ghana.

CEO of MICFRIM Limited, Michael Frimpong expressed his excitement about the partnership with MTN Ghana to increase accessibility to the digital world through the provision of affordable handsets like the iPro smartphones.

The launch of these iPro smartphones comes after the introduction of the smart feature –phone ‘MTN SMART ‘launched in April 2019 with 15,000 phones so far.

Other programs to drive smartphone penetration in Ghana is the “Pick and Pay Later “service currently being rolled out in partnership with Ecobank and Samsung. MTN is urging all Ghanaians to take advantage of the affordability of the phones to get one for friends and loved ones this festive season.
