Companies operating in the e-commerce space in the country are upbeat about an expansion of their operations following the launch of phase two of the mobile money interoperability platform.
The phase two is meant to enable consumers and businesses move funds across bank accounts, mobile money wallets and the e -zwich payment systems.
According to the companies the use of the phase two will translate into quick turnaround for their businesses.
Speaking to Citi Business News at the sidelines of a workshop for industry players in electronic payment system, Group Head of Marketing for DPO Think Payments, Kate Gathii said companies will use the opportunity to expand their businesses.
“ The introduction of the interoperability is just what businesses like DPO Think Payments need, its like giving customers the freedom to pay or to move money around from your mobile money, to a card and to your bank account”.
Madam Gathii was hopeful this will enhance financial inclusion by bring more people in the informal sector into the financial space.
“That is good for us because customers will have an additional level of freedom whereby if it is not working and there is money they have moved to the card they can use that money to make payments and that for us is a great opportunity and giving the people more freedom on how they can make payments. It is a positive thing for us”.
