The Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Ghana is now scheduled to announce its policy rate tomorrow having brought the date forward from the earlier advertised July 22, 2019
According to a notice sent to journalists, the change has been necessitated by the fact that the Minister of Finance will be presenting its mid-year budget statement to Parliament on Monday.
The mid-year review itself was scheduled to be presented to Parliament on Thursday, July 24, 2019 but the communication from the central bank now confirms the date as Monday, July, 2019.
The policy rate, currently at 16 percent, is expected to be maintained given that long-term inflationary pressures remain elevated.
The last meeting of the MPC held the rate and a similar decision is still expected despite inflation dropping to 9.1 percent in June.
