The Chief Enablement Officer at Absa Bank, Ebo Richardson, says businesses ought to anticipate a change in the application of technology if they are to bounce back after the novel Coronavirus pandemic is over.
While admitting to expected changes to some of the ways of doing things after the pandemic, he is also convinced that other aspects of business operations will remain as they were before.
Mr. Richardson gave the advice when he spoke on the on-air series of the Citi Business Festival.
“In my view, I don’t think everything will change, certainly not in the short to medium term. I think that after we have traversed the scourge of COVID-19, certain things will change permanently and some of the old ways will still linger. This is purely because of humanity and how we like to interact. Also, I think it is not correct to say that a business may do everything right from a strategy perspective but not get its technology right. This is because in order to do everything right you also have to get your technology right,” he said.
“However, from a technology perspective, I think it’s important that as we enter into this very fast-paced, digitally led era, with COVID or not, we need to look at technology from a slightly different perspective,” he added.
The COVID-19 outbreak, which expanded from a global health emergency to a global pandemic, saw many individuals and companies making full use of digital technologies to confront a wide range of pandemic-related issues.
Also, the enforcement of social distancing measures, the three- week partial lockdown in Ghana and other measures led to an increase in the use of the internet.
