The Bui Power Authority has denied spending an amount of $3 million on Golf Park and a recreational center for its workers.
The Authority however disclosed that it has plans to set up a Bui City resort but no funds have been allocated to the project.
This is in response to accusations leveled against the Authority by the Minority in Parliament that an amount of $3 million had spent on a Golf park and a recreational centre for staff of the Authority when the nation is rationing power due to low investments in the power sector.
The Assistant External and Communication Relations Officer of the Bui Power Authority, Mawuli Fui Kwadzovia in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show explained that Bui City concept is a resort which will serve the needs to visitors who come to the Bui generation station.
He mentioned that there is a Bui National Park within the enclave of the Bui generation station therefore; the resort will serve as a tourist attraction to persons who visit the area.
He described the concept as an idea and “no such funding [$3 million] has been sought for the golf course or the Club House.”
Fui Kwadzovia maintained that the Authority as at now is sticking to its core mandate of providing reliable electricity for Ghanaians.
According to him, the Bui City Concept will be undertaken under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Regarding the current generation capacity for the Bui Dam, Kwadzovia stated that the dam is a 400 megawatts installed capacity dam but it is now producing between 90 and 180 megawatts depending on the water level in the dam.
