The aggrieved worker of Tullow Ghana Limited, who is suing the company for GHC 10 million will accept an out of court settlement, her lawyer, Bright Akwetey has said.
A 35-year old ex-worker of Tullow Ghana Limited, Pearl Margaret Ashley has dragged the company to the Human Rights Court over a work-related injury.
She is demanding the said amount from her former employers because they provided her with a chair which has caused permanent injury to her back.
In her original writ, she prayed the court to order Tullow Ghana Limited to put here on a medical insurance scheme and bear her medical expenses.
According to Lawyer Bright Akwetey, “if someone wants to settle, you settle and the courts are now encouraging alternate dispute settlement…if someone will settle it will cause the person less”.
However, he said the person whose interest is primary to him was his client, and “a young lady of that nature to be scared forever is not easy”.
Meanwhile, Citi Business News has learnt Tullow Ghana Limited represented by lawyer Kimathi Kuenyehia, has entered conditional appearance for the defendants.
