Accra floods hit Ghana’s automobile industry

Some automobile companies located on the Graphic road have joined a long list of businesses severely hit by the latest floods that engulfed parts of Accra this dawn June 4th, 2015.

Graphic road is home to most automobile companies in the country.

Citi Business News has learnt the matainance yard for example of Toyota has been submerged in water.

toyotaCars, including both new and old that had been brought to the various companies for servicing have been submerged by the floods.

Rana motors has also been submerged in water in that area.

This is not the fisrt time the automobile industry has been hit with this predicament.

In 2011 automobile companies in south industrial area, posted an estimated loss of over GH¢50 million due to floods that hit Accra and other parts of the country at the time.

In all the 12 companies including PHC motors, Rana Motors, Toyota Ghana, Auto Parts, Japan Motors Trading Limited, CFAO, Silver Star, Mechanical Lloyd, Universal Autos and Honda Place recorded over 400 damaged cars.
