There have been controversies over which entity has the right to process gas from the country’s oil fields, as some of the oil companies which have discovered only gas deposits offshore insist they want to process before passing on to Ghana National Gas Company.

However, Chief Executive Officer Ghana National Gas Company Dr. George Sipa-Adjah Yankey insists Ghana Gas is the only entity mandated by law to build, own, and operate infrastructure required for gathering, processing, transporting and marketing natural gas resources in the country.

“We have inter agencies problems, there are times when you want to move and they say to you that this company is doing this. We are working on the second processing plant to enable us take and process gas from jubilee and the TEN project and all of a sudden you reach somewhere and you are told that another company has entered into agreement with some company to install a second plant so how do we work together to collaborate our efforts to compliments each other’s work.

We were set out to be the sole aggregator and so if you get a letter that somebody else has been appointed as the sole aggregator of gas in this country……..It is important for us to have a centre, a technical centre, solid gas policy which all of us will have to be part of and I think that is being done and so till that is done and we scatter our resources we will not get anywhere’. Chief Executive Officer Ghana National Gas Company Dr. George Sipa-Adjah Yankey said.
