Engineers at Cenpower Generation Company Limited have disclosed to Citi Business News that the 350MW plant under construction in the Kpone Independent Power Plant enclave is on schedule and 40 percent complete.
The 900 million dollar plant, which is expected to be completed in 2017 will use a unique Tunnel Boring Machine that has a cooling system, designed to regenerate more electricity.
Speaking to Citi Business News at an inspection tour of the project site, the Chief Executive Officer of Cenpower, Mr. Theophilus Sackey stated that independent power producers can create a power reserve for the nation if the Volta River Authority is financed to pay for the power.
The Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur who led a team to inspect the Tunnel Boring Machine reiterated government’s commitment to end emergency load shedding and provide constant electricity in the country.
The team included Mr. Theo Sackey, CEO of Cenpower Generation Company, Mr. Samuel Nana Brew Butler , Board Chairman Cenpower, Dr. Jimmy Heymann, Board Director, and Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, MP for Kpone Katamanso.
