President names new Governor

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku as Governor of the Central Bank.

He replaces Dr. Kofi Wampah who has proceeded on leave prior to retirement.

[contextly_sidebar id=”vZEvK40mfZ9INECvby2KDEaLFlid9lFI”]Dr. Issahaku, until this appointment, effective today April 04, 2016, was a deputy Governor of the Bank.

Until his appointment, Dr. Issahaku was  a Second Deputy Governor,  and served on many committees including the Economy and Research Committee, Strategic Planning and Budget Committee, and the  Monetary Policy Committee, of the Bank of Ghana

Prior to joining the BoG, he  acted as the Chief Executive Officer of Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF).

Dr. Issahaku has also worked with the African Development Bank and the World Bank.

He holds a PHD in Political Science and worked previously as a professor of political science at the University of Georgia, USA.

He then moved on as a Governance Expert working at the State University of New York/Center for International Development.
