Redsea Maritime CEO awarded by European Business Assembly

The Chief Executive Officer of Redsea Maritime Services, one of the leading private shore handling companies, which receives and delivers conventional general cargo at the Port of Tema, has received the prestigious ‘Manager of the Year Award’ from the European Business Assembly.

The Europe Business Assembly (EBA) is an independent corporation of economic, social and humanitarian collaboration, founded in Oxford, UK in 2000.

It is an interactive platform for adapting European economic programs to the standards of living in dynamically developing regions.

The main mission of the institutions and representative offices of EBA (and its strategic partners), is to form a positive image of the regions, companies and personalities in the European business community.

At an awards programme held in the United Kingdom, the CEO of the organization was awarded the Manager of the year for his outstanding performance in business.

Speaking about the award, an elated Mr. Snowden said, “It is long etched into history that Ghana is the ‘Gateway to Africa’ and with a port that is able to accommodate and grow along with the economic fortunes of the Sub-region, the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority is actively spearheading the development of the Tema port, increasing both its operational area and heavy lift capabilities. The Authority’s efforts are being supported by stakeholder partners such as Redsea Maritime, a terminal operator licensed by Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority to handle conventional general cargo at the Tema port”.

The Chief Executive Officer Raymond Snowden noted that he teamed up with Harry Zakkour, and under their direction, Redsea Maritime has grown into a Ghanaian success story in 5 years of its operation.

According to him, “Redsea has succeeded in changing not only the way people perceive terminal operations in Ghana, but has also introduced innovation and best practices into terminal operations in the Port of Tema. Some of the innovative changes are the introduction of the use of technology and the moves towards the acquisition of ISO 9001 Certification to streamline our service delivery. Redsea Maritime recently appointed an officer dedicated to enhancing our customer services and external relations.”

Redsea Maritime re-brands

The prestigious award comes on the back of extensive re-branding of the company that has grown from a start-up to an industry player with more than enough capability to take maritime services to the next level.

Redsea Maritime recently unveiled a new logo that embodies the direction and future of the company as a ‘Rising Sun’.

This represents diversity and represents the new direction the company is taking as it expands into being a ‘one stop’ service provider at the Tema Port. Among other things, Redsea offers services in haulage, logistics management, freight forwarding and warehousing.

In line with its quest to add value to the industry, Redsea Maritime recently co-sponsored the 15th Intermodal Africa Conference. Intermodal Africa is the biggest annual Container Ports and Terminal Operations Exhibition and Conference in Africa.

Covering West and Central Africa, it was a two-day Conference which featured 30 world-class conference speakers addressing topical issues and challenges on global transportation and logistics attended by a gathering of 400 senior executive industry players.

Mr. Snowden said conference is “one of many initiatives that Redsea Maritime is driving as it supports Ghana to sustain its recognition as the ‘Gateway to Africa’.
