Citi Business News has learnt Labor Lawyer, Charles Adongo Bawa Duah has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC).
Lawyer Charles Adongo Bawa Duah’s appointment is expected to end the uneasy calm at the commission following the delay in the appointment of a substantive Executive Secretary as Dr. Bernice Anowa Welbeck had been acting for about three years now.
He is expected to start work on May 2, 2016.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Charles Adongo Bawaduah was, the managing partner for legal consultancy and advocacy firm, Law Alert Group, Accra.
Between 2002 and 2005 he served as the Legal and Industrial Relations Officer at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) with the duty to advise the leadership on labour relations issues.
As a lawyer, he also represented the National unions in matters before the National Labour Commission and the Law courts with the most recent being representing UNICOF in the famous ADB IPO saga.
Mr. Adongo Bawaduah was also a member of the TUC delegation that attended the 2006 International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference in Geneva, Switzerland and served on the Conference Committee on the application of Labour Standards.
Lawyer Charles Adongo Bawaduah holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and French from the University of Ghana Legon and Professional Certificate in Law Ghana School of Law, Accra.
He attended Notre Dame High School, Navrongo in the Upper East Region.
