South Africa:Barloworld CEO to step down

Global industrial group Barloworld’s CEO Clive Thomson will step down next year. Thomson who has been with the group for a decade will hand the baton to Dominic Sewela at the industrials’ next annual general meeting to be held on 8 February 2017.

Sewela, who was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive of Barloworld on 1 March 2016 as part of a structured succession plan, became CEO-designate on 1st October.

Sewela joined the Barloworld board on 19th March 2014, seven years after joining the industrial group as Chief Executive Officer of the Barloworld Equipment South Africa division. On 1 October 2013 Sewela was appointed CEO of Equipment southern Africa. Prior to joining Barloworld, he was Deputy Managing Director of Afgri Limited.
