The Executive Vice President of Unilever Mr. Yaw Nsarkoh has advised business leaders to build accurate values in order to ensure successful business growth development.
According to him, building the right values which include diversifying and staying focused on the purpose of an organization is the main key to any thriving business.
“Build the right values. Unilever’s values are integrity, respect, responsibility and pioneering. I have no doubt that in any organization that you can see these, you have created the environment in which people can thrive.” he stated.
He counseled that staff must be allowed to face issues without any strict opposition to help them unearth their ideas and thoughts.
“Let’s not get too dogmatic about talent. Beyond that, just let people be who they are and try not too much to dictate what they should be, how they should dress, how they should talk, etc just leave them. Let their originality come into the organization,” he said.
He added that “Some conflict is extremely positive. The issue is how sometimes you create compounds. Build a diverse pool; be fairly comfortable with it but extremely focused on what are the objectives and what is the purpose of the organization.”
He was speaking at the MTN Breakfast meeting dubbed “Leadership Conversations in Management.”
