Ghana to host 2017 World Tourism Forum

Ghana will host this year’s edition of the World Tourism Forum.

The event is a globally acclaimed one that draws various stakeholders in the tourism industry together to identify investment opportunities in the tourism industry.

Ghana’s opportunity to host is also part of moves to project the country’s tourism sector on the international scene.

It is also in partnership with the tourism ministry and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

The forum is slated for October 2017.

It also comes at a time that Ghana is advancing moves to position the tourism sector as a major foreign exchange earner.

In an interview with Citi Business News, Tourism Minister, Catherine Afeku said the forum will enhance investment opportunities for Ghana.

“There are a lot of investors coming for this summit; they will come into the country, they will see what is available and it will lead to investment opportunities. That is why we are partnering with GIPC. Our agencies will be here because most of them coming are also entrepreneurs looking for the next frontier,” she said.

Mrs Afeku added, “This is the next opportunity and Ghana is poised for that. Remember we are pro business and we are looking beyond aid, we want to build the private sector so this will give us the opportunity to build partnerships especially the business community to forge ahead to create jobs.”
