Domestic Airline operators are dreading the poor navigational systems at the various airports in Ghana as the harmattan season approaches.
According to them, they are not able to operate during the period and often loose huge revenue due to visibility challenges.
In an interview with Citi Business News, the Chief Executive Officer of Starbow, James Eric Antwi said government must make proper navigational systems available to ensure their safe landing during the periods.
“The major challenge is the infrastructure that we have in the country; that is with the aviation infrastructure, all the various airfields with their navigational facilities that we have. Now harmattan is just at the corner and flying to certain places in that weather is quite a nightmare and we keep on disappointing our passengers because of that,” he said.
He added order accutane canada that “We need to have proper navigational systems, modern ones at the various airfields so that we can operate seamlessly during the harmattan.”
In Mr. Antwi’s view addressing such concerns would rebuild confidence in consumers’ minds and improve their lots.
“The phenomenon affects our businesses so much in that when it happens, passengers’ confidence just wanes and that is our major concern.”
Domestic airlines’ operations have been adversely affected over the years following the harsh harmattan weather.
The situation led to them cancelling majority of their flights towards the end of 2016.
At least five to six flights were cancelled each day between December 26th and 28th, 2016 with the onset of the Harmattan.
The affected areas were flights from Accra to Takoradi, Tamale and Kumasi.
