More airlines show interest in partnering Ghana Airways 

The Minister for Aviation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has disclosed that government is working to find a partner to revamp the defunct Ghana Airways.

According to her, some companies including Mauritius Airlines, AWA and Ethiopian Airlines have all expressed interest in partnering government to revamp the national carrier.

Speaking to journalists after the celebration of the Aviation Safety Week, Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah stated that government is pursuing a number of projects after receiving a policy approval from cabinet.

“We have been working to bring on board a number of projects. Domestic, regional as well as international airlines and we are vigorously pursuing that. We have a lot of unsolicited as well as solicited proposals that we are studying.”.

She stated that government is carefully examining the proposals to choose the best partner.

“We have approval from cabinet. So we are on course, we are reviewing all the proposals to determine which one to choose. The interest have been shown by Ethiopian Airlines, Mauritius as well as AWA,” she said.

The Nana Akufo-Addo government has indicated its desire to revamp the national carrier after it collapsed.

Ghana airways which used to be one of the best on the continent collapsed after it was mismanaged.
