Adopt AGOA for expansion to US markets – US Ambassador

Outgoing American Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Robert Jackson has entreated local companies to take advantage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) if they are to increase their markets and improve profits.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has recently revealed that his government was taking steps ensure that Ghana exports to the United States (US) under AGOA to achieve a target of $500million in 2020.

The American ambassador made the remarks at 8thGhana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards 2018.

Ambassador Robert Jackson was hopeful local businesses could expand their market reach with increased activities under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Ghana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards

The 8th Ghana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards was to appreciate the contribution of some of Ghana’s top performing corporate executives and the best entrepreneurs in the country.

The awardees were drawn from public and private sectors.

McDan CEO named best entrepreneur of 2017

The top award of the night went to the Group Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley.

Other key corporate executives awarded on the night were the CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center, Mr. Yofi Grant as the Best Business and Investment Services CEO of The Year (Public Sector) 2017.

Mrs. Patience Akyianu, Managing Director of Barclays Bank picked the award for the best woman CEO of the year, 2017.

Under the entrepreneurs category, Isaac Amoako-Mensah, CEO of Classic Amodel Ghana Limited won the award for the best young entrepreneur of 2017, while Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education took home the award for overall best Minister of the Year.

Mr. John Peter Amewu, Minister for Lands and Natural resources capped off the night by winning the award for distinguished public officer of the year.
