Bayport rewards drivers for promoting road safety

Bayport Savings and Loans Company has rewarded three drivers who have exhibited discipline on the road in the ‘Bayport Save a Life Campaign’.

The project is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes targeted at commercial drivers and car owners in the informal sector who together with the company promote a campaign on safe driving.

The three drivers were selected from the Lapaz- Madina station in Accra through passenger nominations.

Polls were opened on May 7 2018, to allow passengers who use the routes of the selected drivers observe the behavior, driving skills and discipline of the drivers and nominate those who have exhibited exemplary professionalism.

The ultimate winner of the campaign, Samuel Atta who plies the Lapaz-Dodowa route, was awarded GHS500 cash while the second and third winners received GHS300 and GHS200 respectively.

“Our main objective is to help curb the high number of accidents on our roads. The project will reward disciplined drivers, organize trainings, create awareness and educate drivers on Road Safety Issues.” Managing Director of Bayport Savings and Loans, Nii Amankra Tetteh said after presenting the cash prizes to the three drivers.

Mr. Tetteh explained further that “as part of our vision to grow with our community, we have instituted a lot of impactful Corporate Social Responsibility programs for our customers and communities. One of the projects is this campaign.”

The company is seeking to replicate the project nationwide with support from other stakeholders.

Bayport Savings and Loans Company is part of an international group with presence in nine African countries.

Since its entrance into the country’s Savings and Loans industry, the company has grown from a single branch to 53 networked branches nationwide.
