The Registrar Generals Department (RGD) is calling for the passage of the Company’s Act into law by parliament by the end of the year.
The RGD is optimistic the passing of the bill will boost its operations while increasing revenue for the country.
The Company’s Act when passed into law will enable the country to have a beneficial ownership regime in place.
In an interview with Citi Business News, Registrar General at the RGD, Mrs. Jemima Oware said the Act amongst others will help improve the operations of the department while fighting corruption in the country.
“We hope it will be passed this year. Currently, it is a bill in parliament. When passed, we will have more company inspection units and company inspectors will be more resourced because once we are autonomous we will have enough to do that” she explained.
Meanwhile Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has assured that the Act has been laid before parliament and plans are far advanced for it to be passed soon.
“The passing of the company’s bill into law by parliament. I know it is being actively worked on and we are pushing that the bill be passed ASAP” he said.
