The Power Distribution Services (PDS) has denied being indebted to the independent power producers as there it has no contract or whatsoever with any of them.
The Chamber of Independent Power Producers, Distributors and Bulk Consumers (CIPDIB) in a statement had accused PDS/ECG of being indebted to its members to the tune of about US$600 million being the cost of power supplied.
But PDS, which is a creation of the ECG Concession agreement under the Millennium Challenge Compact 2, issued a statement Monday denying the assertions by the power producers.
“PDS wishes to put on record that under the Concession arrangement, PDS has signed a Bulk Supply Agreement (BSA) with ECG to purchase power from the latter. PDS has no contractual relationship with the IPPs, and has met its obligations under the BSA,” the company said.
Nevertheless, PDS stated that the it is interested in the amicable resolution of the impasse stating that it would offer its assistance where possible.
“PDS has taken notice of, and is concerned about the claims made by the CIPDIB, and is ready to assist ensure a congenial working environment and efficiency within the electricity supply value chain,” the company added.
