Ramani Distribution Company Limited, a Commodities Trading Company, has celebrated 20 years of its Lele brand with an announcement to work towards producing rice locally.
The group also outdoored a brand new logo, which coincided with the official opening of its new ultra-modern office complex known as Lele Towers in Tema.
Speaking at the event, the Group Chairman of Lele, Jacob Gbati, hinted that as part of the government of Ghana’s plan to boost local rice production, the company has acquired about forty thousand acres of farmland out of its estimated one hundred thousand acres mainly for local rice production.
Mr. Gbati says the move is in line with government’s plan of curtailing rice importation by year 2022.
“Lele Group is big. In Ghana, our concentration is on food items such as Lele rice, Lele Tomatoes Paste, Lele Oil, Lele Corned Beef. We are not just interested in selling imported rice. We want to grow the rice locally so we have so far acquired forty thousand acres of farmland to produce rice. The objective is to have a rice farm size of about one hundred thousand acres mainly for commercial rice production in the country.”
Mr. Gbati further added that the company has brought in some consultants from Egypt who are currently working on feasibility studies towards the company’s commercial rice production agenda in the country.
“As we speak, we have consultants downstairs working on various tasks towards the realization of producing rice on commercial basis locally.”

With Lele rice as one of its leading brands since the year 2000, Ramani Distribution is now into manufacturing and importation of products such as electronics and electrical gadgets.
According to officials, the company currently has a workforce of over six thousand employees, and is among the major tax payers in the country.
In order to give back to society, the company has in recent times engaged in many corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs across the country including its support to the Citi FM Foundation.
As part of programs marking 20 years of working with its distributors in Ghana, the Human Resource Manager, Nana Kwaku Koduah, announced that the company will reward its distributors on 30th June and 16th July in Accra and Kumasi respectively.
He says other activities such as blood donation exercise would be undertaken on 7th of March 2020, including the sweeping of markets across the country.
The opening of the office and launch of the new logo, brought together some distributors of the company from across the country.
Many of them were full of praise to the company for its immense contribution to the success of their businesses. One of the distributors, Nana Yaw, said “I have been working with Lele for the past eight years, and I must say their products are very good. I entreat everyone to buy their products and even join to do business with the company”.
