President of the National House of Chiefs and Founder of SAS Finance Group Ltd, Togbe Afede XIV, has stated that one key ingredient a country or entrepreneurs need to attract the right kind of investment and development is trust.
According to him, when it comes to the growth of businesses, nothing could be more important than the relationship between entrepreneurs and investors.
Speaking on Citi TV’s Point of View on Monday, Togbe Afede XIV also stated that to do business and sustain it, building long-lasting business partnerships is also important.
“First of all, to be able to attract people to work with you, you must make yourself trustworthy. I first went to China, with twenty-seven people. I always try to open doors for others, so I went with 27 people including females. Those days the Chinese Embassy was always empty, but the Chinese were very impressed about my purposes for coming. It made a lot of impact on them. They couldn’t believe that I was going to China with so many people.”
“So we developed friendship right from there. We also developed trust. They didn’t see me as one hard businessman coming to look for money because I talked about development and the fact that I was coming to learn from them,” he said.
Togbe Afede also urged entrepreneurs to build the right attitude as the country has increasingly proven to be a stable environment for the growth of small and medium enterprises thereby making it overly attractive for existing and future investors.
“For me, as I do my business, I’m fulfilling my old dream of bringing development to my people. But even more importantly I’m serving my purpose as a Chief because if I have to be relevant, if the National House of Chiefs has to be relevant, we must I identify the needs of our people and the most one is development that brings investment,” he added.
