As part of the Ghana Gold Expo’s activities for 2021, a week would be set aside dubbed the ‘Ghana Gold Week’.
Among the various activities to be carried out will be the ‘Alternative Machinery Financing for Small Scale Miners’, working with key partners from Turkey, China – Shenzhen Huaxin Construction Decoration and Design Company, and Spain.
Authorities of the Ghana Gold Expo believe that it is high time innovation is promoted at all sectors of the mining sector.
They believe that Ghana being a major producer of Gold in Africa and the world it needs to consciously find alternative solutions through innovation and technology to solve the most pertinent problems within the sector and to promote Ghana’s gold products.
According to them, although the various aspects of the industry involve the use of machineries, heavy and light, there is little or no use of proper machinery among the Artisanal Small Scale Miners in the country.
It thus reiterated the need for all stakeholders to pay attention to investment in heavy machinery.
“Therefore, we call on all players, companies, startups and even student entrepreneurs with innovative technologies, marketing ideas and other alternative solutions in the energy sector to come on board.”
The Mining and Innovation Summit is championed by Dr. Steven Blessing Ackah, the Executive Director of Ghana Gold Expo, and Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister and MP for Takoradi.
ViewTag-Ghana Gold Expo (VGGE), is a registered Ghanaian company, which focuses mainly on ‘Promoting Zero Mercury’ in local mining, and advancing the advocacy against the application of the deadly chemical in mining in accordance with the Minamata Convention on Mercury by the United Nation Environmental Program and endorsed by the International Human Right Observer.
