The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurial and Innovation Programme (NEIP), John Kumah, has been awarded a doctorate degree in Business Innovation.
Dr. John Kumah, a lawyer, who is also the Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region in the December elections, was also awarded two other degrees, including a Masters in Applied Research and Doctoral Certificate.
The Doctorate and other two degrees were all awarded to the NEIP CEO by the Swiss Business School based in Switzerland.
The ceremony leading to the award of the three degrees took place during the graduation of final year students of the School on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the Ghana campus of the School, the Nobel International Business School ((NIBS), situated in the capital City of Ghana, Accra.
The thesis of John Kumah that led to the award of his doctorate degree was on the topic “Factors that Affect Product/Service Innovation among SMEs in Ghana.”
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Dr. John Kumah seized the opportunity to congratulate all his colleagues for having successfully gone through their studies.
“I congratulate all my colleagues for our efforts in successfully going through our courses of study and pray for God’s guidance in our future endeavors,” he said.
The NEIP CEO also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all his lecturers and supervisors who guided him throughout his studies.
“Let me also express appreciation to my lecturers and supervisors, who guided me in this journey,” Dr. John Kumah told the media over the weekend.
In all, a total of 64 newly trained business minds capable of taking on Africa and the world graduated.
CEO of Nigeria-based Precise Financial Systems, Dr. Yele Okeremi, who was the Special Guest of Honour in his address, urged the new business graduates to initiate societal change with their acquired knowledge.
He said, “a doctorate is not about being brilliant, a doctorate is not about being intelligent, but a doctorate is about being disciplined. A doctorate is being resilient and a doctorate is about being focused, and this saying goes to the EMBA graduates as well.”
The Special Guest also said Africa and the world need both brilliant and disciplined minds that are committed to impacting their societies with their knowledge.
According to him, just like the advanced countries, African countries also possess talented people and that the only difference is the seeming lack of commitment by Africans to drive real change in their communities.
“Any knowledge that doesn’t lead to a change is absolutely useless,” he stressed.
Assistant Academic Dean and DBA programme, Dr. Hod Anyigba, said the 4th NIBS graduation has been made possible by the strategic partnerships formed with top institutions in Ghana and abroad.
He said NIBS’ research-focused educational model requires students and participants to focus on compelling organizational challenges and seek answers to insightful questions.
