The Executive Director of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Kosi Yankey-Ayeh has hinted that the activities of the new entity will rely significantly on Information Technology.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency Bill which was passed recently, converted the National Board for Scale for Small Industries (NBSSI) into an agency to oversee, coordinate, promote and develop Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Speaking to Citi Business News, Kosi Yankey-Ayeh who is the Executive Director of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, formerly known as the National Board for Small Scale Industries, NBSSI, indicated that technology will play a critical role in the delivery of its support services for MSMEs especially as the country works its way to recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It will play very critical support. The Ghana Enterprises Agency that was accented to by the President last year is a very important institution, this agency’s goal is to really see how we can develop and coordinate the affairs of MSME’s in this nation. For years a lot of the work of MSME’s has been done, and people are doing their things in their corners.”
“There is no concerted effort to coordinate and bring to the centre support that will see us see maximum and incremental development of these MSMEs. And the goal of the Ghana Enterprises Agency is to ensure that we are able to do that by bringing on board the right and needed support through technology, through business development, through support and through any other support that would be able to help them at this point in time.”
Madam Yankey-Ayeh spoke to Citi Business News on the sidelines of an SME clinic organized by Graphic business and Access Bank.
The maiden edition of the event, had the theme: “Boosting SME Resilience with Digital Solutions”.
It was aimed at generating dialogue on the need for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to transform their mindset to excel in their enterprises.
