Samsung’s flagship tablet Galaxy Note 4 has officially been launched in South Africa.

The launch saw hundreds from across the globe throng to the Execute Hanger in Capetown, to witness the unveiling of the much-talked-about device that has been touted as the game changer in the world of smart hand-held devices.

The event brought together top officials of Samsung Global, heads of various subsidiaries in various countries, dealers, tech savvies, the media and other stakeholders.

Samsung says it intends to change the face of smart mobile computing with this device.

According to Director of Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics South Africa, Craige Fleischer, GALAXY Note series signals “extraordinary innovation within the technology industry. Its larger screen size and iconic S Pen technology launched a new standard in Smartphone culture”.

“With the introduction of the GALAXY Note series, we brought the age-old culture of the pen and notepad into the digital world. The new GALAXY Note 4 combines all the latest technology that consumers expect from the GALAXY series,” he said.

He told Citi Business News “we have obviously done phenomenal with the Note 4, the screen, the camera, the processor as well as the module for the battery and the networking interface of the device.”

The Galaxy Note 4 is small enough to fit into your palm and big enough to provide wide view for users.

Its 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display reproduces clearer and more vivid images with deep contrast, better viewing angles and response times as fast as a millionth of a second, providing viewing like no other.

The device is equipped with a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera with a feature that literally says good-bye to blurry pictures.

The Smart Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) counter-balances camera shake and automatically extends exposure time in dark settings.

In addition, a 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera with f1.9 offers a default 90 degree shooting angle.

Its camera can take a shot of up to 120 degree wide angle.

Users will just have to move the phone around, the Note 4 will take a shot that has everybody in it enhancing selfies.

Battery power

Samsung has worked on expanding the battery life of the new Galaxy Note 4.

Its new feature the ‘fast charge’ allows users to charge from 0% to 50% in 30minutes.

It still has the ultra power saving mode introduced on the Galaxy S5 ensuring the most basic functions of the phone when you need it the most.

It comes equipped with multiple microphones and an improved speaker phone for better noise cancellation when speaking in loud environments.

A built-in voice recorder offers eight different directional voice tagging and a selective playback capability that allows users to isolate and listen to specific voices in a group conversation.

The GALAXY Note 4 also offers an improved fingerprint scanner, to secure personal data and the world’s first UV sensor in a mobile device.

The new Galaxy Note 4 has been described as a “beast”.

The S Pen

Bridging reality and digitization, the stylus S Pen has been enhanced to make writing on the note 4 feel more real.

Its sensitivity has been doubled compared with Note 3.

The new S Pen offers a much more authentic pen experience, with a more natural brush effect that perfectly emulates writing on paper with a fountain or calligraphy pen.

The S Pen also introduces a more user-friendly Air Command functionality along with other intuitive features such as Action Memo, Screen Write, Image Clip and Smart Select that allows users to create and collect content with ease.

A new Smart Select feature enables consumers to easily piece together content from different origins and share it with ease.

Furthermore, the GALAXY Note 4 also provides users with a choice of multiple, seamless note-taking methods integrated with Samsung’s S Note application that allows everyday tasks to get done faster and more easily.

In addition to typing and writing, the innovative Photo Note feature allows users to take a picture of their notes on a paper or a classroom board and then quickly and easily convert to an S Note.

They can also unleash their creativity by capturing their thoughts quickly with Voice Memo.

Exceptional Design

The GALAXY Note 4 introduces a new sleek and stylish GALAXY design language.

The device features a premium metal frame with fluid curvature that seamlessly blends with the device display.

A soft-textured back cover provides incredible comfort that makes it easy to control with one hand.

The GALAXY Note 4 is available in “Charcoal Black,” “Frost White,” “Bronze Gold,” and “Blossom Pink” through Samsung Experience Stores, leading retailers and local operators, starting in October.

The New Galaxy Note 4 will be available in shops from 17th of October, 2014.

CEO of Samsung Africa S Y Hong launching the Note 4 added there was a great potential for growth of use of smart phones in Africa.

He projected usage will grow from 79million users in 2012 to about 264million in 2016 representing a 300% growth.
