Cairo — Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal affirmed that Algeria will spare no effort to support any step aimed at unifying the Arab ranks and strengthening the Arab Nation’s cohesion.
“Concerning the situation in the Arab world, we affirm that the return to stability and security is a major priority, without which we cannot consider a successful Arab action or have an influence on the events, notably, with regard to our important issues topped by the Palestinian cause,” said Sellal in an interview granted to the Egyptian magazine “El Ahram El Arabi.”
“Algeria will spare no effort to support any step aimed at unifying the Arab ranks and strengthening the cohesion of the Arab nation” in order to preserve its position within the international community and take up the challenge of development and progress, he said.

Concerning the upheavals endured by the Arab world since 2011, Sellal said that time and also events “have proved the relevance of the Algerian reading to what we call the Arab spring.”
In a reply to question on the position of Algeria about the situation in Libya at the political and security levels, Sellal said the disaster in this brotherly country is particularly human.
In this regard, he reiterated Algeria’s commitment to the principle of sovereignty of Libya and its territorial integrity, calling all the parties to reject violence and favour the path of dialogue to overcome the differences and ensure a national understanding within the framework of the international legality and UN resolutions and far from any foreign interference.
