Ernest Agbesi commences work as MD of GCB bank

Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, the newly appointed Managing Director of GCB Ltd has assumed his new position.

Mr. Agbesi was appointed MD of the bank last month following the exit of Simon Dornoo, who left the bank in March this year.

A Memo cited by Citi Business News dated July 28, 2016, addressed to all staff of GCB Bank and signed by the Head of Human Resource of the Bank Francis B. Danyi and Manager Recruitment and Selection, Francis Ngula, said Ernest Mawuli Agbesi’s appointment takes effect from 1st August 2016.

Ernest Mawuli Agbesi until today was the Managing Director of another state-owned bank, the National Investment Bank (NIB).

Before his appointment at NIB in March 2014, Mr. Agbesi was the head of operations at UNibank (Ghana) Limited where he had worked from January 2008. He supervised the organic growth of the Bank.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), a Post Graduate Diploma and a Diploma in Accounting.

He also worked at International Commercial Bank in 2000 where he became a Divisional Head in 2006 in charge of Sales and Business Development, Estates and General Services and Retail Banking.

Currently he is the Board Chairman at Nestle (Ghana) Limited as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors at First Ghana Savings and Loans Company Limited.

Meanwhile the bank has urged all staff to give Mr. Agbesi their maximum support in the discharge of his duty.
