Ecobank Ghana has assured its customers that its mobile application (Ecobank mobile app) is safe and rid of cyber attacks.
The assurance comes at a time government is creating awareness about increasing cyber fraud.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the Regional Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank, Mr. Tara Squire, assured that all security measures and systems have been securely worked on to avoid any case of mobile money fraud or cyber attacks.
“For Ecobank, we have an entire unit dedicated to ensuring that we have robust platforms. Also we back customer transactions so we always ensure our customers’ money is safe with us” he said.
He added that “the advantage in this is that we have given customers much more freedom in accessing their money. If there is the need to make payments and you don’t want to pay cash, you can get the recipient to open an account instantly and effect the payment”.
Meanwhile, as part of moves to promote the new app, staff of Ecobank Ghana last Friday took to some principal streets of Accra to invite customers to download and install the app for easy and smooth transactions.
The app already has over 200,000 customers currently enrolled onto it, thus placing Ghana ahead of the other 32 African countries where Ecobank is present.
The Ecobank mobile app, launched last year, is an instant and convenient platform that leverages the power of digitization to deliver real convenience to customers and enables them open new digital accounts via mobile phone devices.
