Somewhere in 2014, I got scammed by a client I trusted.
A total of about Ghc 1,500 worth of bags and accessories, shipped to this trusted individual who I never heard from again till date.
The circumstances leading to that mistake is a story for another day but back in 2014 that amount was big money for a small business like Asabea Ayisi and it took a lot to recover from that incident.
That was one of the difficult years in my business, my confidence suffered, my grades in school suffered, I began questioning my ability to run my own business as well.
Less than a year later, major flooding in Accra swept away my production workshop which was then operating from a container shop around Kaneshie.
We lost supplies, machines were damaged, and had to compensate several clients in the process.
Business came to a halt and I lost my desire to create all together in the few months that followed.
But, supportive family and a newfound desire to teach my skills nationwide renewed my passion and helped me bounce back.
Fast forward 2019:
I have been working on a new accessory collection over the past few weeks and I have experienced various forms of anxiety, stress and worst, creative blocks.
Recounting my past experiences and how I got through them helps me, writing and talking about it equally helps and, I am confident I will bounce back to my full creative potential again soon.

So, If anyone is having any sort of challenges lately, creatively related or otherwise, listen, it gets better.
You NEED supportive people around you and they don’t necessarily have to be family or friends. Friends and families can be your worst critics in my experience.
Surround yourself with people who genuinely support you and DO NOT let the internet rush you, do it at your own pace!
It gets better eventually.
