Some business associations have expressed satisfaction with President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominations for the business related ministries.
They expressed optimism in the nominees ability and skills to tackle issues of grave concerns in their industries and sectors.
President Akufo-Addo yesterday named Ken Ofori-Atta, Alan Kyeremanten, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Boakye Agyarko as his nominees for the Finance, Trade, Agriculture and Energy respectively.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the President of the Association of Ghana Industries(AGI) James Asare Adjei was of the view that all the candidates are fit for the various positions.
“The personalities appointed to these portfolios are accomplished people. People who have a lot of industry experience, I mean, they have really achieved a lot. What we are looking forward to is they been vetted and passed. Then the industry will start engaging with them,” he said.
He was optimistic the named ministers will pass the parliamentary vetting since they all have enormous experience.
“If you look at the individual qualification of these ministers definitely I think they are more than capable to do the work.”
He further pledged the association’s full support to the various ministers if approved by parliament.
“We are very much prepared as AGI to support them and to make the work successful for all of us.”
A National Executive member of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, Benjamin Yeboah also agreed with the AGI President.
He stated that the past work of the named ministers only goes to show their capabilities for the positions when confirmed.
“I’m sure those men are clear cut for the roles. We can only use some history, what they have done to measure their success going forward. So yes, using that yardstick I think they are fit for the Job.”
